The Inner Project is a Video Art collective formed by Bruno Silva, Filipa Cerol, Mirian Tavares and Sílvia Vieira. All of them researchers at the Centre for Research in Arts and Communication (CIAC).
This collective has, as its main target, the development of the relationship between Science and Art. Throughout history this relationship has come to have different perspectives, some different and some others complementary, depending on the perception of the world on each era.
Technology has, inevitably, in this project, a key role in the confluence of these two different areas , functioning as a bridge that promotes the complementarity between them. First, looking for points of mutual influence and, in a second instance, experiencing the aesthetic possibilities of medical technologies.
Working as a research laboratory, The Inner Project as a very specific object of investigation: the interior of the human body.
Another basic guideline of this project is the exploration of ancient human scopophilic pleasure. To satisfy this old curiosity, The Inner Project uses the latest medical technologies, such as nanocapsules or the classical endoscopy. The result so far lay somewhere between the repulsive and the erotic, although the collective intention is to advance on further experimental ways, seeking unexpected sensations.
Finally, the panel would like to work on a key issue wich is inseparable from the idea of the human body: time.
